Penbritte Equestrian Centre is situated in the Alewynspoort valley in Eikenhof, just south of JHB. The farm is 80 acres in size with an additional 18 acres of grazing available.
The owner Belinda Martin has always loved and owned horses. Belinda has a Equine Science National diploma, Pretoria Technicon, a B-tech degree in Equine Science, Twane' University of Technology, a SANEF II instructors qualification. She is a equitation judge, has schooled and produced all her own horses and competed in Med A grade (now open). She is currently competing in C grade and producing young horses. Penbritte has produced Junior A -grade and top children riders, showing, dressage and equitation horses from scratch.
FACILITIES & SERVICES
Our face brick barn stables (with tiled roofs) have been designed in accordance with a research study done by the Equine Research Centre at the University Onderstepoort. Housing horses in optimum comfort and offering a social and relaxing atmosphere for them.
We offer big paddocks and fields, a lovely indoor arena, a large sand arena that can accommodate two dressage arena and grass arena. Two lunge rings, Derby facilities and a free jumping school.
The heart of Penbritte lies with its tranquil atmosphere and staff. Most of the staff have been with Penbritte for over 10 years and are very friendly and experienced horse handlers.
The staff consists of a stable manager (Susan J. v Rensburg), a qualified Equine Science dip graduate, qualified SANEF instructors, a head groom Bafaan Nhdlovu (who has represented South Africa in the Africa cup, jumping E grade) and a team of very loyal grooms. The staff have all completed a course in equine care and handling. They are able to bandage, lunge, take heart rates, temperatures and are very quick to notice any injury or change in the health of horses in their care.
Although Penbritte has produced top horse and rider combinations through the years, it remains a very down to earth friendly yard where any horse lover is welcome, competitor or not. For this reason Penbritte clients have been very loyal to Penbritte and client turnover is almost non existent.
Penbritte is surrounded by lovely outrides and trotting tracks, making it possible to host dressage, jumping and TREC shows throughout the year.
The surrounding hills offer beautiful outrides, outrides to klipriver or rides along the quiet dirt roads in the area.
Penbritte offers a holistic approach to horse care. Our management and Vet-care history is unsurpassed. Penbritte has always strived to keep and produce equine athletes according to the latest research while never forgetting that horses should be allowed to be – just horses in their most natural form.
